Unbreakable tableware and cutlery with an original banana print

The paediatrics department of AZ Turnhout is fully committed to being child-friendly: a cheerful banner welcomes you, at the reception desk you meet mascot “Kiko the monkey” and food is served on reusable and unbreakable tableware with a nicely designed banana print. From Roltex, of course!

Head of nutrition Andi Couwels: "We do our best to prepare varied meals that everyone likes, from children to elderly. However the eye wants something too. Thanks to Roltex's unbreakable tableware, the whole concept is set right."

The starting point

AZ Turnhout did research in tableware, especially tailored for children. It had to be practical; unbreakable and light in use. And the experience was at least as important.

Play supervisor and psycho-social worker Eline Van Gorp: "With cheerful tableware and cutlery, we want to make a stay in our hospital as fun as possible. We agreed on yellow plates and cutlery made of a high qualitative and unbreakable plastic. With bananas engraved on the products we got them tailor made. Perfect for our ward's theme! A white bowl and transparent cup with printed banana completes the set."

The process

Andi: "We‘ve been thinking about many possibilities with Roltex and came up with a practical and fun solution together. No matter how many questions we asked them, we could always count on their help Moreover, we always got an honest answer - even if an idea turned out not to be achievable - and they helped us think about possible alternatives. So our cooperation went very smoothly."

The end result

AZ Turnhout tested their new tableware extensively and received very positive reactions. "Parents find the bowls and cups with double handles very handy," says Eline, "and the children are big fans of the bananas. I'm really excited: we've been working towards this for a long time and then it's nice when the result is so positive."

Andi is also satisfied: "Roltex was part of our story from the very beginning, has thought along and helped us at every stage of the project. The fact that everything is made in Europe is a nice bonus."

And the future?

Our beautiful collaboration may have a sequel in the form of personalised trays with a drawing of “Kiko the monkey”. Andi: "We really like the idea and hope to make it reality in the near future." A nice vote of confidence!
